Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday

This Giving Tuesday, we’re sharing stories of hope. Thanks to our volunteers and supporters, we’ve been there for those who needed support, no matter the reason. 💙

One of our former crisis volunteers, Glenda, shares this story of hope amidst grief.

“I think one of the most memorable calls I had was from a gentleman whose wife passed away suddenly. He was waiting for his family to come so we spent all night with him, to keep him company. He was so thankful for our service. On the last call, one of his kids was at the front door, so he hung up. It really touched my heart.” -Glenda, Crisis Line volunteer

This story of hope amidst grief is just one of the hundreds of thousands we’ve encountered, since 1970. When life’s challenges become overwhelming, we want you to know that we are here.

Your donation ensures that we can continue being a lifeline for those in crisis. Help us stay here—for you, for the grieving, and for our community.

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, Distress Centre Calgary would like to honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis, and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. Finally, we acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate this territory.
