“To all the people at Distress Centre, your telephone line can be at times a real source of encouragement, strength and hope. A valuable resource made possible by a bunch of wonderful people. Thank you. Thank you.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has created uncertainty and distress for our community. Now more than ever, Distress Centre needs to be available 24/7 to support those in crisis. When we closed our office on March 17th, our staff continued to provide 24 hour crisis and 211 support, and daily chat and text support, remotely from home. On June 20th we began Phase 1 of a re-entry strategy into our Contact Centre and now have a small number of volunteers and staff providing support on site. The majority of our staff are still working from home. Our counsellors are providing counselling sessions by phone and online.
Because our volunteer numbers are low in the Contact Centre and volunteers are not supporting people remotely, a large majority of our responders are staff, which has caused our costs to increase exponentially. We need your support during COVID-19. Please DONATE. Thank you.
