ENMAX: Committed to Supporting Calgarians

As a trusted energy provider, ENMAX helps power the potential of people, businesses and communities. Their commitment to service goes well beyond electricity– ENMAX helps build stronger communities through volunteer work, donations, sponsorships and support for vital community partners.

Since 2011, ENMAX has partnered with Distress Centre Calgary to support Calgarians facing challenging circumstances. Through the partnership, ENMAX contributes to our Basic Needs Fund, which directly helps people in need of one-time emergency financial assistance, like an unexpected bill or damage deposit. In addition, ENMAX sponsors our annual volunteer appreciation event which celebrates and recognizes our selfless volunteers on our 24/7 crisis lines.

The ENMAX Customer Care team plays an important role by connecting vulnerable customers with resources like our 24/7 Crisis Line to access help for immediate financial strain and any underlying challenges they may be facing. ENMAX also helps raise awareness of Distress Centre Calgary’s services and encourages team members and leaders to give their time and expertise. Furthermore, ENMAX double-matches all employee donations made to their energy affordability partners, which includes Distress Centre Calgary, as part of their annual employee giving program.

“At ENMAX, we are committed to building stronger communities by supporting critical community partners in a meaningful way,” says Krista Moroz, Manager Community Partnerships & External Relations at ENMAX.

“Together with our employees, we are proud to support the essential, life-changing work of Distress Centre and the difference it makes for our city’s most vulnerable.”

We are extremely grateful for ENMAX’s long-standing commitment to our mission of providing compassionate support to those who need it. We thank them with full hearts for their generous community spirit and financial support of over $1.23 million over the years, helping us ensure that Calgarians are heard.

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, Distress Centre Calgary would like to honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis, and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. Finally, we acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate this territory.
